Apprentice Accountant - Ammanford office 

We are a successful and forward-thinking practice in search of an Apprentice Accountant to join our team in our Ammanford office. Many of the existing partners in the practice have trained with firm, which highlights the career prospects. 
 
Job Summary: 
Ensuring all clients are provided with an excellent service, meeting their deadlines and supporting day to day queries that clients may have. 
You will be part of a team and training will be provided. 
The role demands accuracy and attention to detail. 
With the support of colleagues, you will ensure the smooth running of clients' accounting systems. 
 
Qualifications, Training & Experience: 
· Strong analytical, problem solving and issue resolution abilities with an eye for detail 
· Excellent decision making and judgement skills 
· Excellent written and oral communication skills 
· Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure 
· An organised and flexible approach to work 
· Ability to work in a small team and take ownership of tasks 
 
Education: 
Applications open to school leavers with 
Minimum of 8 GCSEs grades A-C (including Maths)

Receptionist / Administrative Assistant - Llandovery office 

Ashmole and Co is an established firm of accountants based across West Wales. We are currently recruiting a Receptionist / Administrative Assistant for our Llandovery Office. 
 
You will be responsible for meeting and greeting clients and taking and making phone calls. You will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to learn new tasks quickly. 
 
You will also provide administrative support to the Llandovery Office Team and will probably have some experience of Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel. Experience of Quickbooks. Xero and/or IRIS practice management would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given. 
 
You may be looking for a full or part time position, and our decision in this regard will be dependent on the wishes and skills of the applicant and the needs of the business. However, there is a minimum requirement to work 13 hours per week on a Thursday (9:00 – 17:00) and Friday (9:00 – 16:00). 
 
Tasks specifically include: 
 
• Sending mail both electronically and manually, depending on the needs of the client 
• Opening and scanning mail 
• Filing paperwork electronically 
• Opening and maintaining electronic client files 
• Ordering supplies 
• Keeping practice management software updated to assist tracking of jobs through the office 
• Phoning and/ or emailing clients to request records 
• Debt collection and invoicing 
• Internal bookkeeping duties 
• Diary management for the partners 
• Ah hoc administrative takes requested by Partners and Staff

Ensuring all clients are provided with an excellent service, meeting their deadlines, and supporting day to day queries that clients may have. 
 
You will be part of a team processing clients’ accounts, tax returns, VAT returns and company secretary duties. The role demands accuracy and attention to detail. 
 
With the support of colleagues, you will ensure the smooth running of clients' accounting systems. 
 
Accountability & Activities: 
Bookkeeping - mainly using Quickbooks, Xero and Sage to perform reconciliations of clients' accounts data to enable production of VAT Returns and management accounts. 
 
Completing limited company confirmation statements, with the support of colleagues. 
 
Client contact in regard to day-to-day questions and queries. 
 
Qualifications, Training & Experience: 
· Strong analytical, problem solving and issue resolution abilities with an eye for detail

Education: 
We are currently looking for one of the following: 
1. Graduates with a 2.2 Hons and above 
2. Individuals who are currently studying for the ACCA or ICAEW qualification; and/or 
3. Individuals who have passed AAT level 3 
 
Training: Fully funded training package offered in addition to basic salary.

PAYROLL CLERK in our Carmarthen office 

We are currently looking for a Payroll Clerk in our Carmarthen office. Ashmole & Co are one of the largest Chartered Certified Accountants in Wales, a rapidly expanding and modern firm. 
 
We are looking for either a person who has existing payroll experience or a trainee payroll clerk. The skills required for the role are: 
 
• Be a team player, but who can also use their own initiative 
• Can cope with a busy environment 
• Have good logical thought processes and numeracy skills 
• Excellent communication skills with both clients and fellow employees 
• Proficient computer knowledge – Understanding of Sage Payroll an advantage, but not essential as training will be provided. 
 
Responsibilities to include: 
• Process payroll as per clients requirements 
• Maintain payroll records 
• Ensure processes and procedures follow current regulations 
• Respond and resolve queries from clients relating to payroll 
• Calculate wages and deductions 
• Regular usage of payroll systems, including data compilation and input 
• Liaison with HMRC 
• Develop the payroll function to ensure it continues to meet client’s needs 
• Calculate tax and NI commitments 
• Set up and process new employees 
• Check hours and calculate overtime and holiday pay 
• Process relevant paperwork 
• Involvement with special situations such as statutory leave 
• Administer accurate records for new starters and leavers 
• Auto Enrolment pension submissions 
• Construction Industry Scheme monthly submissions 
 
Salary is commensurate on experience.
