Carwyn Morgan, Partner, was brought up on his family’s beef and sheep farm near Bronwydd. He combines his passion for farming with his accountancy skills in order to help our clients involved in the agricultural industry.
Carwyn, a fluent Welsh speaker, offers farming clients expert advice on their business including immediate and long term tax planning and passing on their business to their children. He also informs clients of any grants that are available to them, prepares clients’ accounts and tax returns.
The two most common questions Carwyn is asked are:
1. When should I transfer the farm to my children?
2. I need a new tractor – should I buy it now or after the tax year end?
Carwyn said, “Every week I’m asked when is the best time to bring a son or daughter into a client’s farming business and when to pass the reins on to the next generation.”
It is very rewarding for Carwyn when his expert advice has been taken on board and he sees how much that has helped the client’s business, through increased profits or the successful transfer to the next generation.
During the current pandemic he has been busy informing clients of the various grants and financial assistance available.
Carwyn joined Ashmole & Co in 2007. After leaving Bro Myrddin secondary school, he got his Accounting Degree from Cardiff University. He qualified in 2006 with a local firm of Accountants.
Carwyn helps his father and brother on the family farms when he can. He played cricket for 20 years for Bronwydd, last year he helped coach the cricket all star juniors. Carwyn and his partner Lucy have three boys between them aged 6, 7 and 8. When the boys are older he hopes to get back to playing cricket. In the meantime he runs and plays 5-a-side football when he’s not ferrying the children around to football, rugby and cricket!
