Keeping it in the family...

Being a rural accountancy firm that works closely with local family businesses we like to also support the families of our staff. 

Sam Jones, based in our Ammanford office, started working with us as a Trainee Accountant, full time, in September 2015. His father, Chris Jones, also worked in the Ammanford office for many years. 

Sam grew up on the family farm in Llannon. After leaving Maes yr Yrfa high school, he gained an Extended Diploma in Business at Distinction Level at Coleg Sir Gar in Llanelli. During his Diploma he did work experience with Ashmole & Co and joined full time after completing his studies. 

Day to day Sam sorts out clients’ tax affairs which includes submitting VAT returns, company tax returns, personal tax returns and preparing accounts to be submitted to Companies House. He occasionally turns his hand to carpentry as well! He’s the Ammanford office’s handyman! If a desk needs fixing it’s a case of asking Sam. 

The most rewarding part of the job for Sam is building up a good relationship with clients and ensuring they get the best outcome. The bit he finds most challenging however is listening to HMRC’s hold music! Sam said it’s been the same for the past five years. 

In his spare time Sam enjoys training and keeping healthy by playing rugby, cycling, swimming, running or mountain walking with his partner, Cath and their dog, Sid.
